Mumbai: Preity Zinta recently took a moment to reflect on her first meeting with Yuzvendra Chahal, who was then a promising young cricketer in the U-19 circuit.
The actress and co-owner of an IPL team expressed how Chahal's talent and enthusiasm for cricket were evident even at that early stage.
On Thursday, Zinta shared a heartfelt message for Chahal following his remarkable performance in the IPL 2025 match against Kolkata Knight Riders in Mullanpur.
Using her Instagram account, she posted a collection of their pictures, writing, “How it started vs how it’s going. I met Yuzi during the Kings Cup in 2009 in Chandigarh. I was new to cricket, and he was a young under-19 player. Over the years, I witnessed his growth into a formidable player in the cricketing arena. I admired his competitive spirit and always wished to have him on our team, but it never seemed to work out… until now! Our last game showcased why I have been such a fan of Yuzi over the years. When challenges arise, true champions shine. I’m thrilled to have you back where you belong @yuzi_chahal23. Always want to see you smiling and shining. Ting.”
She concluded her post with hashtags like “#Manofthematch #Saddapunjab #basjeetnahai #Ipl2025 #Saddasquad #pbksvskkr #ting.”
One of the shared images captures Preity embracing Yuzvendra after his match-winning display against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during Match 31 of IPL 2025.
For context, Yuzvendra was reportedly acquired by the franchise for Rs. 18 crores but had struggled earlier in IPL 2025 until his standout performance against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 15 in Mullanpur. Defending a mere 111 runs, the spinner from Haryana excelled, achieving figures of 4-0-28-4, which enabled Punjab Kings to defend the lowest total in IPL history successfully.
On another note, Preity Zinta is gearing up for her return to cinema with the film “Lahore 1947,” directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, featuring Sunny Deol in a leading role.
